It was obviously going to be big, but just how big?
Iron Man 3 has taken the top box office spot this past weekend earning $175.3 million dollars in ticket sales.
That gives the third installment of the Robert Downey Jr. film the second highest grossing opening weekend spot ever.
Iron Man 3 surpassed Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 ($169.2 million) but fell short of The Avengers ($207 million.)
Last week’s top earning film, Pain & Gain, came in second this week earning 7 million.
